What Does Water Leak Detection Cost in Melbourne?

Every water leak investigation starts from $500 + GST. This covers up to 2 hours on site

and includes thermal imaging, acoustic detection and a full written PDF report.

If the investigation requires additional time beyond two hours, a rate of $165 + GST per hour applies. You are informed of this before any additional time begins.

Most residential investigations are completed within the two hour window.

More complex jobs such as slab leaks, multi level properties or large sites may require additional time and are discussed with you upfront before any additional charges apply.

There is no call out fee. The $500 + GST covers your full investigation including all equipment, thermal imaging, acoustic detection and your written PDF report.

What Is Included In Every Investigation?

Every investigation includes a thorough, methodical inspection of your property using professional equipment and construction knowledge.

Thermal imaging camera inspection of walls, floors and ceilings.

Visual inspection of all relevant areas of the property.

Water meter analysis to determine leak size and confirm an active leak.

Acoustic detection equipment to listen for leak sounds within pipes and structures.

Scope camera inspection where accessible.

Dave Wilkinson approaches every investigation differently.

The investigation is guided first by construction knowledge and understanding how homes are built. By examining the structure of the home and how different building elements connect together, it becomes possible to identify where water is most likely entering the building.

Thermal imaging and acoustic detection are used to support and confirm findings — not as the primary method of finding the leak.

Every investigation concludes with a full written PDF report delivered to you after the inspection. This report is yours to keep and share with your plumber, builder or insurer.

What Is In The Written Report?

Every Client Receives A Full Written PDF Report

Every investigation concludes with a professionally formatted PDF report containing:

• Technician and client details

• Property photo

• A record of your concerns as reported

• Detailed findings from the investigation

• Conclusion

• Safety concerns identified

• Recommendations and suggested next steps

• Full photo evidence from the inspection

This written report gives your plumber or builder the exact location and nature of the problem — so they can repair the right area the first time without unnecessary damage to your property.

The report is yours to keep and share with your plumber, builder or insurer. It can also be provided to your insurance company if required.

Pricing is transparent and discussed with you before any work begins. There are no hidden costs and no surprises. You are informed of any additional charges before they apply.
